Full judgment

1. MR JUSTICE SILBER: The applicant, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, seeks an extension of the Interim Suspension Order made on 20 August 2008 under Article 31(8) of the Nursing and Midwifery Order against Umma Devi Raggoo ("the respondent"). The extension that is sought is for a period of 12 months from 19 February 2011. The respondent came to the attention of the applicant in January 2008 following the referral from the Commission for Social Care Inspection West Midlands Regional Enforcement Team in respect of allegations of management failure and abuse of vulnerable service users. 2. The Interim Order was most recently extended by a Consent Order approved by Deputy Master Knapman on 22 January 2011, but it is due to expire on 19 February 2011. There is a witness statement from Julie Ash, which shows that copies of the claim form and details of today's hearing were sent by recorded delivery (first class post) to the known address of the respondent, who has not appeared today. 3. There is no reason why the Interim Order should not be extended to 4pm on 18 February 2012. I so order and also give the respondent permission to apply to the court giving three days' written notice for an order to vary or discharge this order. There will also be no order as to costs.
